My name is Miriam Turner and you have found your way to my family’s website. If you search the site you will find random computer posts from my husband, and lots of pictures of our now 2.5-year-old son.
I am currently in class nine of the MHA program. I have been waiting to take this elective since I first saw it on the schedule last year. So far, I am really getting a lot out of it. The e-Learning book seems especially relevant.
I was born and raised in Henderson, NV, but have lived all over the country as I moved for various jobs. After earning a BS in Hospitality Management from UNLV in the mid-1990’s, I worked at the MGM Grand and then moved to Lexington, KY, San Jose, CA, and finally settled here in Northern Virginia. I am currently using my industry experience to teach Hospitality Management at a private university outside Washington, DC, called Stratford University.
It is my teaching position that has been the real push for me to earn a higher degree. In order to keep teaching at the current level, and to open up opportunities at other institutions, I knew that I needed to earn a masters degree.
In my free time…. wait – what free time? I like to scrapbook and make cards. I also like to travel.
I look forward to getting to know everyone else in the class a little better over the next eight weeks.
