The making of Jo

So, for those of you that haven't read to the end of the "Family Letter": we are expecting a baby. "Jo" is due 27 July (the same day Miriam was due), so we don't know the gender yet, but we should know sometime around our anniversary (10 March. Yes, I remember what day it is, and I don't even have to look in iCal). I can't think of a better present.

We are very excited, as to be expected. It was great to be able to tell our families and friends while we were in Vegas for Christmas. We actually told my brother and sister-in-law at Thanksgiving, which was quite early to be telling anyone (we only found out two days before), but we wanted to tell them in person.

Miriam told everyone at work this week, and I've been telling a few people at work.

Everyone is doing well. Miriam is still giving 110% at work, and so she is often tired. Luckily, she has mostly been spared morning sickness. The first sonogram went well, and Jo is progressing as well as can be expected.

Jo? Yeah, that's our placeholder name. Gender neutral, and something we both know we don't want to use for a real name. We have a few names in mind, but I don't think we'll settle on anything until we're completing the birth certificate.

There is a lot we have to get done between now and July: remodel the kitchen (we currently have no room for sippy cups), convert the ironing room to a nursery, and generally purge the house of anything we aren't using. Then there are the many baby books to read, classes to attend, doctor's appointments and so on.
