A few weeks ago, I put up a link to Twinemen, a relatively new band out of Boston. At first I recomended the band simply on its pedigry. Two of the three members once belonged to Morphine ... one of my favorite bands.
Well, this past weekend Miriam baought me the CD for my birthday, and I have to say it is great. I know it isn't fair to compare Twinemen to Morphine, but this album easily picks up where "The Night" left off. Smokey, spooky and jazzy. Laurie Sargent's vocals are edgy yet smooth. And Dana Connely's saxaphone is as haunting as ever.
If you liked Morphine, you should appreciate Twinemen. They are both cut from the same cloth, for sure.
I just put in a bid for Laurie's solo album on eBay, too. Now, if I can just find some recordings by Movable Bubble and The Family Jewels, I'll be set.
