Ed Headrick, the father of the modern day Frisbee, died Monday. I'm not a Frisbee aficionado, but you have to respect a man who left us with a quote like this:

"We used to say that Frisbee is really a religion -- 'Frisbyterians,' we'd call ourselves. When we die, we don't go to purgatory. We just land up on the roof and lay there."

Closer to home for me, Sandra Thompson, Vice President & Associate Editor of The Las Vegas SUN, died in a car accident this past Friday.

I knew her as a kind and patient person, but I never realized how much of an impact she had had on her community. I know she will be miss by everyone who has had the pleasure of knowing her.

Her family asks that donations may be made to the Sun Camp Fund, 2275 Corporate Circle Drive, Suite 300, Henderson, NV 89074, or the Children's Advocacy Alliance, through the Nevada Community Foundation, 1850 E. Sahara Ave., Suite 207, Las Vegas, NV 89104.
